EFS — Emergency Flashing System V0.0.1 [BETA SOFT RELEASE] | (GTA IV Complete Edition v1.2.0.59)
Emergency Flashing System (EFS) is a custom emergency vehicle lighting, siren, and traffic interaction system developed for Grand Theft Auto IV, designed to provide a more customizable and modern alternative to the game's standard emergency vehicle functionality.
EFS allows emergency vehicles to be configured through the built-in EFS Light Studio, giving users control over custom emergency lighting patterns and vehicle-specific lighting setups without requiring every vehicle to behave exactly the same.
The system currently includes support for custom flashing lights, wig-wags, environmental lighting, DVI/park lighting behavior, custom sirens, manual air horn functionality, traffic-advisor configurations, spotlights, and experimental AI traffic interaction.
Current Features
EFS Light Studio — In-game editor for creating and configuring vehicle lighting profiles. Custom Lighting Patterns — Configure flash patterns, synchronization, direction, channels, colors, brightness, positioning, and supported light behaviors. Vehicle-Specific Profiles — Different emergency vehicles can have their own EFS lighting configurations. DVI / Park Mode — Dedicated stationary emergency lighting behavior separate from normal response/pursuit lighting. Drive / Response Mode — Full emergency lighting behavior while operating the vehicle. Traffic Advisor Support — Directional warning patterns including configurable sequencing. Headlight & Rear Wig-Wags — Custom alternating emergency lighting behavior. Environmental Lighting — Emergency lights can illuminate the surrounding environment for greater visual presence. Custom Siren System — Custom Wail, Yelp, and Priority tones with manual tone cycling. Manual Air Horn — Press-and-hold custom emergency air horn independent from the active siren. ELS Vehicle Compatibility — Experimental backwards compatibility for vehicles utilizing traditional ELS-style flashing Extras. Experimental DVI Traffic Interaction — Civilian traffic can react to a stationary emergency vehicle and attempt to slow down/move around it. In-Game EFS Controller HUD — Displays current lighting and DVI operating states. Community-Modding.com Release Identification — Official EFS builds contain permanent release identification. This version of EFS should be considered a Beta / Soft Release.
The core system is functional, but EFS is still actively being developed and some features—particularly AI traffic behavior and ELS compatibility—may behave unpredictably depending on the vehicle, road, traffic conditions, or other installed modifications.
The current ELS compatibility system intentionally prioritizes game stability. Because of this, the known ELS vehicle door/Extra glitch may still occur on certain models.
The experimental DVI traffic system is also still being fine-tuned. AI vehicles may occasionally react late, move over too aggressively, pass too closely, or otherwise make questionable GTA IV traffic decisions.
Additional bugs are expected to be discovered as more vehicles and configurations are tested.
Future Development
EFS is being designed as an expandable emergency vehicle framework rather than a single lighting script. Future versions may expand vehicle compatibility, Light Studio capabilities, AI emergency vehicle integration, DVI traffic behavior, lighting options, siren functionality, and other emergency vehicle systems as development continues.
Feedback and bug reports from this Beta release are encouraged.
